McGettigan's Pharmacy has a long and respected history rooted in the heart of the local community. The business was established in the 1940s by Charlie McGettigan, who opened the original chemist in Clonard Gardens, opposite Clonard Monastery.

 

From its earliest days, the chemist became a trusted presence in the area, known for its personal approach and dedication to serving the healthcare needs of local residents.

In 1997, the chemist relocated to the Blackstaff Complex on the Springfield Road, ensuring it could continue to meet the changing needs of the community.

 

In 2003, the business was taken over by Joe Magee, whose grandparents had been loyal customers of Charlie McGettigan, reflecting the strong ties maintained across generations. Under Joe’s stewardship, McGettigan's Pharmacy continues to serve the local community with the same commitment, care, and sense of trust that has defined it for decades.
